Later on in the year when I have more established projects under my belt, I'll shorten the reel quite a bit. Wow, its been a while, hasn't it. Well, a lot has changed since I've graced Blogger. If you haven't read my info yet, as of 2011, I'm going by my birth name, Sarah French. Here is a little bio, if you haven't seen it yet...

Sarah French is an actress and model from Minnesota. She got her start modeling when she was discovered at a metal concert, her favorite genre of music. She modeled under the name Scarlet Salem. She later had an opportunity to get into acting. Her love was always horror so naturally she gravitated towards those projects using the Scarlet Salem name. To date she has done over 30 films with titles such as Strip Club Slasher, Killer Biker Chicks, In harm's way and Terror Overload. Outside of horror she also plays a Russian assassin in the martial arts film "Opposite Blood" and a Ghostbuster in the online series Ghostbustin 911, which is a mix of Ghostbusters, Reno 911 and Cops. In addition she has been featured in many magazines like Gorezone and Girls and Corpses. She writes a scream queen column for Shock horror magazine. In April 2011 she dropped the Scarlet Salem name and began to use her real name for all future work.

So, there you have it. :)

Lizzie Borden Dead and Breakfast

My dream came true.... on October 18th, 2010 I visited a place I've always been fascinated with.. THE LIZZIE BORDEN HOUSE! Oh yes, peeps!!! Yours truly not only visited the place, but stayed the night there... in the Morse room where Abby Borden (the step mom) was hacked to death in!! I can't even begin to tell you how cool it was to be in that house with so much history attached to it. I've been fascinated with that place since I can remember, probably as early as elementary school. Yup, I've been a sick and twisted girl all this time! I mean think about it... the whole case is a mystery! Lizzy was never convicted of any murder, but everyone knew she did it. She was caught in a ton of lies while on stand, her stories didn't match up, she ruined evidence pertaining to the case which people knew about... it goes on and on. Soon after the trial, the towns people banished her. For those of you who don't know much about the Borden case, you can read all about it here: Lizzie Borden Wiki

The reason why I've always been fascinated by the case was because it was so gruesome, especially for that time, the late 1800's.... PLUS the criminal was a female and that was unheard of back in those days. Abby Borden was changing the sheets in the guest room, Morse room, when someone came up behind her and bashed her in the head with a hatchet. She was found face down between the bed and dresser, blood and brains everywhere. The father, Andrew Borden, was laying on the couch in the living room when he was bludgeoned in the head with a hatchet, god knows how many times. When you look at crime scene photos, they are unbelievably disturbing! His skull is barley recognizable, same with Abby. This is what you call a hateful crime. The person who killed them hated them immensely. Some say Lizzie hated her step mom because she was inheriting money from Andrew and Lizzie felt it wasn't fair, so to solve that problem, kill her. Also, some say Lizzie didn't intend on killing her father..... that he was at the wrong place, at the wrong time. We'll never know the whole story. Its one of Americas top unsolved murder mysteries out there. How can all this not be interesting!!??

Getting back to the bed and breakfast part of this, I loved it! Great service, great everything! These people sure know how to make guests feel comfortable and entertained, and the breakfast is KILLER! The whole house is pretty much a replicated from the time Lizzie lived there, from the furniture, paintings, carpets, rugs, etc.. The owner did so much to it to make the house authentic. Joe and I got there a little late and made it in time for the night tour. It started around 8 and ended around 10. We had so much fun! Also, it was nice cause only one other couple, besides Joe and I, were staying there. The house was pretty much empty, so yeah, it was creepy! The tour was so informative. I learned things that made me really think and stuff I never knew.... so cool! Ghost wise, Joe and I didn't have any experiences, but I guess there is a lot of activity on the 3rd floor, basement, and Andrew's room.... just like Andrew, gotta be there, right place at the right time. Honestly, not sure how I'd react if something happened to me, hehe! All in all a GREAT experience and I can't wait to come back here next year!!

Opposite Blood update!

We're well into filming for the upcoming action flick, Opposite Blood! This weekend I filmed more scenes with my character, Lin Chow, at an actual gun range! Not only did I get to shoot some awesome scenes, when we were done, I got to shoot an actual Glock for the very first time in my life! Let me tell you, it was insane! I wasn't nervous at all when we filmed, but when I shot that gun, it was a whole other story. Although I missed the target horribly, It was a great experience to say the least, haha. I'm going to leave you all with some pictures from the shoot and 2 trailers.... enjoy!!!

Ed Gein's Grave/Homestead

As some of you know, Joe and I love to travel and see the sites.... we also love history. While we visited a site out in Wisconsin, we decided to visit Ed Gein's hometown and grave, since we were in the area... Call us weird, but its really interesting stuff. Its funny, Joes into serial killers, I'm into the paranormal, so it works out both ways!

For those of you who don't know Ed Gein, let me give you a quick rundown.....

From Wikipedia: Edward Theodore "Ed" Gein (pronounced /ˈɡiːn/; August 27, 1906 – July 26, 1984) was an American murderer and grave robber. His crimes, which he committed around his hometown of Plainfield, Wisconsin, garnered widespread notoriety after authorities discovered Gein had exhumed corpses from local graveyards and fashioned trophies and keepsakes from their bones and skin.

Some very famous films were based off this man... Silence of the Lambs, Psycho, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre to name a few...

Texas Frightmare Weekend

Ahhh, its great to be back in Texas! Wow, what a wonderful convention! Texas Frightmare Weekend was amazing! Joe and I had a blast! This was my first convention in Texas and Joes second one... By far, from what I heard, this particular one was the best! So many amazing guests, it was crazy! Not only did I get to attend this, I got to meet some of my fav's too!! While Joe and I were up in Denver for the convention, we stayed one night at the infamous Stanley Hotel!! I've been wanting to visit this hotel since I knew Stephen King stayed there and the film, The Shining, was based off that hotel... such history!! Let me tell you, this place is sooooo magical! It has such beauty and charm to it, can't even begin to explain!

We did take the ghost tour which included the basement where the Ghost Hunters interacted with a spirit.. Jason from Ghost Hunters stayed in room, 401, and had the closet door open and close on its own.. which they caught on tape! We stayed in room 401, the most haunted room in the hotel... Unfortunately we didn't have anything happen to us... maybe next time... ;)

All in all, The Stanley, is one place you HAVE TO VISIT! Here are some pictures to highlight our time at the infamous hotel!! Enjoy!!

Hey everyone! Just announced, I will be joining the cast of Jonathan Moody's, 'Scream Queen Campfire'! Here is a little synopsis:

Here's a group for The Upcoming new series, "Scream Queen Campfire"... 5 beautiful scream queens will tell 2 stories each giving us 10 terrifying and entertaining stories in the series during a campfire.

Joe Knetter and Scarlet Salem will be in Scream Queen Campfire in "Visions" written by Knetter himself. Directed by Brandon Slagle in his first non acting vehicle.

"A woman (Scarlet Salem) has just moved into a new apartment after a painful experience. Alone and unhappy, she tries to move on with her life..... She begins to hear and see things and wonders how alone she really is."

THE HALF-LIFE HORROR FROM HELL

I've been if Philly, PA for 5 days filming 'The Half-Life Horror From Hell'! Its been a blast! Not only did I get to film, I got to go to a city that just kicks a ton of ass! We wrapped up filming today and I feel really good about it! I play a conceded, manipulating woman who is trying to get her step-brother to f*ck her. Kind of along the lines of 'Cruel Intentions'.... I really like it cause I'm not used to playing that kind of character, so it was really fun for me and I got to play around with it! The film is by Mark Mackner of Sickening Thud Films, here in Philly.

Crypticon Horror Convention Minneapolis 2009

What a blast! Crypticon Mpls was a huge success! Its always nice to be in a con when its in your home state. It makes it that much better because you know everyone there and its just super close! Salem's October Vacation

So with Rock and Shock over, we switched gears into the second part of our trip...the mini vacation. First off, I should say, I've dreamed of going to a certain place since I was five years old. It's like it called to me. So you can imagine the excitement I felt knowing that I would be finally going there. Yep...that's right...I was heading to Salem.

We parked at the hotel and since we couldn't check in yet, we went for a stroll. The first thing that caught our eye was the Witch Museum. We decided to check it out. It gave a history of the whole witch ordeal. It was a good way to get into the Salem mood.

After it ended we went for a stroll. Salem is absolutely beautiful and rich in tradition. The architecture is amazing.

After passing many shops we ended up at the Witch memorial. Along the walls of a small courtyard there were stone benches, each one engraved with the name of one of the people put to death.

Anyway as we were circling the courtyard my heart stopped as I saw what was next to it. The 2nd oldest in the country.

It was called Old Burying Point. I spent the next hour walking through it in awe. The cemetery is right in the middle of the village. The oldest tombstone was from 1783...9 years before the Witch trials. Buried in the cemetery is one of the judges from the trial. The only judge to never apologize for the trials and stand to his belief that justice was served. There was also someone buried there that came from the mayflower. All in all it was the most amazing cemetery I had ever been in. So much history and beauty. I was in heaven.

After leaving the cemetery we walked around and went to a few museums including Count Orlocks which houses a killer wax museum devoted to horror and a lame haunted house that was...well...lame.

Eventually we ended up at a old time shipping dock. It was beautiful. From there we stumbled upon the house of the seven gables, made famous in the novel by Nathaniel Hawthorne.

From there we headed back to the Hawthorne to check in...and this is where it got weird. The Hawthorne is a haunted hotel, at least that's what they say. Ghosthunters did an episode there. There are 3 haunted areas to the hotel. The library...which is downstairs. Room 325 and the entire sixth floor. We were staying on the sixth floor...and I felt a little nervous. The hotel itself is beautiful and vintage. The detail is amazing. We got our key and got into the elevator. To be honest I was a little nervous. We exited the elevator and it felt like something out of the shining. We stepped out into the hallway. Now at this point, Joe was drawn to the room at the end of the hallway in the corner. In counting doors from where we were our room was going to be two down from that one. We started to head down. We realized about halfway down that one of the doors we counted was actually a maintenance room and not a guest room...so to no surprise...we ended up at the door we noticed right away.

It was a little creepy. We went into the room, which was beautiful. Nothing major happened right away. So we hung out for a bit, trying to decide what to do next.

We decided to go downstairs and visit the library. We went down and looked around. It was creepy and old. But there wasn't much out of the ordinary...except for one picture. As you can clearly see there is an orb in only one shot...the one next to Joe. If you zoom in on it...you can kind of see a face in it. Spooky.... You just never know!

We decided to walk to the other old cemetery in town. Since it was dark we couldn't go in, but we looked around. Very beautiful at night. We went to take some pictures and the camera went dead...which was quite bizarre since it had just had a full battery. Still we got a couple of cool shots.

After that we decided to get some room service back at the hotel. We ordered our food and sat back to relax. The room was still very hot. I ordered the food and Joe went into the bathroom. He came out a few minutes later with a weird look on his face. He held his arms out and they were covered in goosebumps. Something weird had happened but he played it off so that he wouldn't frighten me. The next day he filled me in and I'll fill you in soon. Anyway after eating the food Joe began to get very sleepy...which is bizarre cause, as anyone who knows him can attest, he never sleeps. He feel asleep quickly. I layed there feeling uneasy. I tried to fall asleep...and might have succeed..as the next thing to happen may have been a dream...but maybe not. I was laying with my eyes closed and I could feel Joes hand on my shoulder.. the next minute I felt another hand closer to my hand! No, it wasn't Joes... Not sure if it was a dream or not, but I woke up screaming his name, crazy!!! In the morning we were sharing stories...I told him what happened to me. He shared what happened to him in the bathroom. He felt something touch his back and it caused goosebumps to break out. We both agreed it was very creepy. I went into the bathroom and he followed. I looked at him and noticed something weird. "What happened to your chest?" I asked. He looked confused and looked at himself in the mirror. All the color drained from his face. His chest and neck were bright red. He looked really nervous. He wanted to tell me something but as creeped out as I was I made him wait until we left...and then he did fill me in. He hadn't been truthful. The touch he had felt the night before wasn't on his back, it was on his neck and chest. He didn't want to freak me out so he changed it to his back. Yikes!

So we went back to the cemetery from the night before that we couldn't go into. Like Burying point it is old and beautiful. At the back is the old prison. It's currently being torn down and turned into an apartment complex...how nice. We got some cool shots of the inside of the jail...which housed many inmates over the years...including, for one night, the boston strangler...picked up for a traffic violation.

From here we went to a couple of churches. First was St. Peter's. It's a beautiful church. In front are a couple of fenced in areas with a few headstones. Out back, behind the church is a small seating area and a parking lot. Underneath is the graves. They removed the headstones but kept the bodies there. They put a few headstones out front as a tribute.

From there we wandered down to the oldest Church in Salem, which is beautiful! Right next door is the Which House. It's where one of the judges lived. It was amazing to walk through.

From here we wanted to eat lunch at the LYCEUM. It's an old restaurant built over the land where Bridget Bishop's house was. She was the first convicted witch. It's also haunted and was featured on Ghosthunters. We sat and ate.

The food was good...but we had more pressing matters. Going upstairs to the haunted area. After sweet talking our waitress she let us go up, alone to look around. The moment Joe and I got up there we felt a tightness in our chest and felt very uneasy. The rooms are beautiful...and vintage...but something did feel out of place there.

From there we left Salem...to head to the next part of our trip....NEW YORK.
But before we left Salem we stopped at a couple more cemeteries...and even got an ice cream cone, hehe! Yeah, I'm a sucker for cemeteries!

We headed into New York via the Lincoln Tunnel. I was a little nervous to be there since so much is going on. We parked and went to Times Square. We stopped for a drink at Planet Hollywood to calm my nerves...and it worked. There were a few cool things at Planet Hollywood.

After spending some time in Times Square we headed back to the car...but on the way swung into the Ripley's believe it or not museum. It was full of cool and strange things.

From here we headed to the real reason we were at New York...Amityville.
The Amityville horror series is on of my faves and I've always wanted to see the house where the murders really took place. We pulled into Amityville late and checked into our hotel. The Sayanora motel.. haha, what a crap hole!!!

The next morning we got up and went in search of the house. Since the locals hate the attention they changed the address...but it's pretty easy to find online. We found Ocean Avenue after a few tries...and I realized I was really there. It was surreal. We drove down the block and I saw it. Even though it's been changed a great deal it was easy to spot...the Amityville house.

We took a moment to reflect and headed on our way to the airport... wow, what a great vacation!!!

Rock and Shock Horror Con Aftermath

This was my first year at the show. It took place in Worcester, MA at the DCU Center. I honestly can say it was my favorite con by far!! I was able to attend the con with my boy, Joe Knetter... do we make a great team or what??

It was great! Our table was set up between the famous Ezra Buzzington and the almighty Kane Hodder! Can't get any better than that! So much fun, those guys are great!!! Not only did I get to hang with Ezra and Kane, but I also got to meet.... Derek Mears, Gunnar Hansen, Sid Haig, and Chris Carnel to name a few!

Not only was it great to hang out with everyone, I got to meet a ton of new fans and friends as well! Thank you all for your love and support! I hope to come back next year and see you all again!

The bonus was there were bands as well! Not only was it a kick ass con, we got to be up front and center for some of the best bands out there, Misfits and Type O Negative!! How freaking great is that? What a show it was!!!

All in all great time and next year will be even better!!!
